Computer Beginners Guides

Long Past

Just a few years ago in the days that people now consider, Web's Pre-Historic Days; everyone was trying to learn HTML. Then everyone thought making sites with just MS FrontPage is good enough. Then came DreamWeaver and after that, almost every word processor came with an HTML export option. So it didn't make HTML knowledge non-existent, but made it irrelevent for many to even look at HTML tags.

Recent Past

Then came the days of DHTML, JavaScript and Java. Creating animations on ones own webpages was all the hype. As always, M!cro$#!t was there to help us with their awesome and almost God-like helping hand by creating Page Transitions feature in their (then latest) MS FrontPage. And other software manufacturers followed MS like a pack of sheep trying to stay tight in a herd.

Macromedia Flash

Present

Now came FLASH! Now meaning "then and is still making great feats." Macromedia has really rocked my world by producing Flash and specially their new Flash MX. My own feelings about Flash in a word would best be expressed as "WOW".

When you get down to the roots of Flash, there is hardly anything that Flash won't do. You can create graphics images with it, create animated graphics, or create an animated movie with, or even create a whole, complete website built with just Flash. Off course, there would be very sligh HTML used but Flash can take care of that part of you as well.

Some say that Shockwave can out score Flash at any level. Wrong! Simply because there are more people experiencing Flash then Shockwave. AgMAY Inc. our company is currently under talks of having a design company in Austria create Flash Based games for www.dagaimz.com our new project. So as you can see, I wouldn't promote anything without liking it first myself.

But many noticed a down-side to Flash as well. Out of everything that is good, comes some point of negativity no matter what it is. What most people have complained about with Flash is that it's not quite as intuitive as many would like starting from a moderate to advance levels of Flash. As opposed to how FrontPage is to most people. But Flash is a graphics program and FrontPage is an HTML WYSIWYG editor you say. Point well taken, but in my view, nothing compares to Flash. So the closest tool that even resembles the kind of ease that Flash offers is I think FrontPage.

Proposition

TW proposes everyone to download a copy of Macromedia Flash MX and play around with it just to get the idea of what I'm talking about here. And it is very necessary that you go through the little built in tutorial to get the first hand Flash Class otherwise, you wont know what's going on. From what we've found, Flash's own tutorials are top notch but if they got you only so far, there is a rainbow of other materials out there that can get you much further.

Now that you've gotten free know-how on this topic, try to grow your skills even faster with online video training. Then finally, put these skills to the test and make a name for yourself by offering these skills to others by becoming a freelancer. There are literally 2000+ new projects that are posted every single freakin' day, no lie!
